What is Semi-permanent makeup or Cosmetic tattooing?

Cosmetic tattooing procedure which is semi-permanent technique for enhancing the appearance of the eyebrows, eyelashes, lips in which pigment is scratched into the skin using fine tiny blade or tattoo machine. In cosmetic procedures we use pigment instead of traditional tattoo ink (which is why it fades). Years ago, permanent makeup was applied with regular tattoo ink. That’s why it often looked so unnatural. When you get a body tattoo, it’s usually done with ink, which has a very watery consistency. With cosmetic tattooing, the pigment is thicker, so it gives that more natural powdery finish.
Microblading (Also known as Feather strokes) is a technique using a hand tool with a blade formed of tiny needles that fills in the eyebrow areas in fine, short strokes resembling hair, to make them look fuller. Unlike a traditional tattoo, which is permanent, The color effect will fade over time, so touch-ups may be necessary to maintain the desired look.  Microblading is said to offer natural looking and defined eyebrows, but the process typically takes some time to perfect. The initial procedure may take up to a couple of hours, and the eyebrows will appear darker immediately after the initial treatment. It is possible that the color will fade after a few weeks and a touch-up may be needed. Microblading is not suitable for all skin type, especially oily skin. Microblading on oily skin requires several touch-ups, which causes more trauma to the skin. This will be discussed in consultation where we will explain why, and what other options can be considered if not just microblading.
Ombre (also known as powder, mist, micro shading, Ombre shading, or stardust brows) is a semi-permanent powdered brows which is advanced technique  for clients who prefer fuller result than hair strokes but still very soft. The tails of the brow are darker and fade into a light beginning to the brow, giving a perfect Ombre makeup affect. The effects will be waterproof, smudge-proof and completely natural.
Ombré Powder Brows differs from traditional tattooing in that it is surface work—meaning, the application is done on the epidermis layer of the skin. The technique is described by its name, with results being powdery with a faded front and a crisp tail, resembling the look of makeup.
We recommend two sessions for this technique, Initial session and touch up after 6 weeks time once first session is healed.
Ombré powder technique:
  • Ombré powder brows are great for any skin type, unlike microblading, which is not suitable for those with oily skin. Microblading on oily skin requires several touch-ups, which causes more trauma to the skin.
  • Your eyebrow will look fuller, more defined as well as dramatic.
  • Ombre brows last longer than micro bladed brows, usually up to 3-4 years. Still, depends on client's lifestyle and many other factors.
  • The Ombre powder technique is a  less invasive than that of microblading.
  • While ombré powder brows have a more “filled-in” look, the healed results appear like softly shaded brow pencil or powder. Immediately after the treatment, ombré powder brows can appear more saturated and bold, however, brows will fade 20-30%, leaving a very soft finish and shape that will allow our clients to quickly groom their brows going forward.

Combination brows are also a type of semi-permanent makeup brow tattoo, done with pigments. They are a combination of two techniques – hair strokes and shading. It is good to know that hair strokes are usually done only in the front part of the brow, i.e. the head, and the tail of the brow is shaded. Hair strokes are usually created with microblading i.e. a manual tool, but they can also be made with a machine – machine strokes or nano strokes. Shading is also added to fill in the space between the hair strokes. So, why is this done? Some people like the makeup look of their brows – they want them to look like they were filled in with a brow pencil or brows powder, without having to apply it on their brows every day.

Combo Brows are great for clients with normal to moderately oily skin. So if your skin is too oily for microblading alone, combo brows might be a viable alternative. For someone with very sparse brows, the shading can give the brow more body, while the hair-strokes keep it looking natural.

A new set of Combo eyebrows takes two appointments to complete. it needs two visits to ensure that all the strokes are evenly saturated with pigment. The second appointment is called a  touchup and takes place 6 to 8 weeks after the initial appointment after the pigments settled into the skin.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS!
Which treatment lasts longer?

The average lifespan of microblading is 12-18 months, but combo brows and ombre brows last longer since there is shading involved. Combo and ombre brows will last up to 4 years. Eye Liner or Lash line Enhancement

A fantastic treatment if you simply want to add extra definition to your eyes, without an eyeliner look. You might be surprised, but this is one of the most popular eye treatments in permanent cosmetic tattooing. Save time applying eye makeup. Add extra definition to your eyes with a natural look. Lash enhancements are perfect for adding extra definition to your eyes. If you want something more dramatic. The tattoo is applied to the lash line, and can be applied as a fine, thin, or medium to thick eye-liner style.

We use newest technology and machines with defined needles to drive the micro pigments into the deeper layers of your skin. The procedure normally takes 1-2 hours. It will last 2-3 years or more. Color refresh/touch-up is recommended every 2-3 years.
Benefits of Eyeliner Tattoo: There are many benefits to eyeliner tattooing, including:
  • It’s smudge-proof and waterproof
  • It accentuates your eye shape and color without the need for traditional makeup eyeliner.
  • You don’t need to apply eyeliner every day!

Eyeliner Tattoo Styles:

There are four different eyeliner styles you can choose between, along with extra trendy options such as ‘wings’.
  1. Eyelash enhancement: Super Subtle
Eyelash enhancement is a very subtle tattoo application and it can be done in two different ways – as either a thin line that does not leave the lash area or as a dot next to each eyelash. This makes your eyelashes look longer and thicker.
  2. Thin eyeliner: Subtle but impactful
Thin eyeliner application can still make your eyes pop, whilst keeping a more ‘natural’ look. It’s a great option for those that want a thin eyeliner line, with the option of building it up further with makeup.
  3. Medium-width eyeliner: Bold
A medium-width eyeliner is perfect for women who wear makeup every day and want a look that makes their eyes bold but still relatively natural.
  4. Thick eyeliner: Super-Bold
Thick eyeliner is not for everyone. For those who wear thick makeup and eyeliner daily, this will give you a permanently bold eyeliner look.
  5. Wings
Wings are more of a ‘trend’ style, however, you need to be very careful about doing wings as there is a 'no go' zone where glands are located on the inner and outer edges of the eye. If you tattoo in this area, because of the small molecules in the pigment, it's possible to get migration of colour and spreading, which is very bad and impossible to remove. Wings are also hard to maintain as your eyes change with age.

What’s The Difference Between Cosmetic Tattooing and A Traditional Tattoo?

Although the process is similar to getting a regular tattoo, there are some key differences:
  • Eyeliner tattoo is only applied to the first layers of skin, so the color fades over time. Traditional skin tattoo ink goes much deeper into the skin.
  • It is only semi-permanent, lasting approximately 2-3 years, with a yearly ‘touch up’ usually required
  • Cosmetic tattoo inks contain less of a metal base, which is the component that allows ink to permanently adhere

Eyeliner Colour

You can choose from traditional colours of brown and black, to more adventurous colours such as green, blue and violet.

If you are considering a more bold colour, don’t forget that you have to be happy with this eyeliner colour every day for the next 1-2 years!

Most people stick with a conservative black or brown and your technician can give you expert advice on what will work best with your eyes and skin tone.

Preparation Before Your Procedure

  • Lash Extensions
You need to remove lash extensions at least one to two days – or ideally a week – before your procedure to give lash extension glue time to disappear. Even small amounts of lash glue can interfere with the application of ink. You can reapply your lash extensions once your tattoo has healed.
  • Natural Blood Thinners
Stop taking as aspirin, fish oil, and other ‘natural’ products that thin the blood for at least three days prior to your procedure. If you take prescription blood thinners, consult your doctor for advice.
  • Contact Lenses
Remove contact lenses before your procedure, and don’t put them back in until any tenderness or redness has vanished.
  • Consult a doctor
If you are on any prescription medications, consult a doctor prior to your procedure.

Lip Enhancement/Lip Contouring

Wake up with beautiful, full lips. Lip Contouring/tattooing enhances and defines your lips. Although it doesn't physically create volume or fullness, it’s all about the illusion. Lip contouring gives you the appearance of full lips. Lip contouring helps adjust/enhance the color of your lips. It helps you look fresh and awake. If your natural lip color is pale or dark, it can give the illusion to others that you’re more tired than you actually are.

We use the newest technology and machines with defined needles to drive the micro pigments into the deeper layers of your lip skin. The procedure normally takes 2-3 hours. The tattoo doesn’t just go around your lip like traditional lip-liner. We will do an outline on the border of the lip, but also shade the color down into the middle of the lip (in a circular motion) to give it a more blended look.

We have various colors in our range for you to choose from, from pale
pink, nude, caramel, to rose red. Color will last between 2-3 years. Color touch-ups are recommended every 2 years. It’s possible to get a color that is close to your natural lip color but it means it won’t last as long and you will need to come back yearly for a color touch-up. We suggest tattooing your lips one or two shades darker or brighter, depending on your natural skin tone.

The lips will peel after 48 hours only and the lip will heal after a week or so.  We advise our clients getting lip tattoos to schedule the procedure for a Thursday, so they can let the swelling and dryness die down( if any, not applicable for every client, some client do not experience any swollen or dryness) over the weekend. The color gets lighter, and then as the skin heals, it comes back. You usually see the full, truest color after about two weeks to 2 months

If you’re prone to cold sores, make sure you’re taking medication to prevent them.
